By the time Kate's birthday arrived, our city was in shutdown. We had committed to staying home, not seeing friends, other than outside & six feet apart, and the kids were home from school until April 30th (which later turned into the end of the school year). All of this made a birthday for Kate a bit tricky. We wanted it to be special, and because of the amazing people in her life, it was!
She woke up to a decorated driveway thanks to our neighbors/besties.
Facetime with Mia while she opened her gift.
Baking the birthday cake.
Opening family gifts, including a ticket to Dear Evan Hansen in Chicago, which was later sadly cancelled.
A zoom birthday song from all of her Cavanagh & Vogel family.
Out to the cabin to fly kites.
While this wasn't what we had planned, this photograph represents it all: stormy clouds, but a sweet girl flying a rainbow through it all. So thankful for family & friends who showered her in birthday love. It is definitely one she will never forget!
