Trick or Treat!

For Halloween this year we had one cute monkey...
...and one sweet fairy.
Kate was pretty shy when knocking on doors, but once she figured out that there was candy at each she picked up the pace.
Seeing that there was nothing in it for him, Andrew immediately fell asleep.
Hope your day was filled with lots of treats!

Palisades

Today we drove up to Cedar Rapids for the annual Cavanagh reunion. It could not have been a better day!

One Month

Andrew is now a month old. He has given us a few hints of smiles and continues to be more awake and alert. He loves our daytime fall walks and is a good sport when Kate wants him to go to (pretend) ballet class or a wedding.
Love this little guy!

Jack O' Lantern

Last night Kate & Jason worked together to carve a very scary Jack O' Lantern. Here they are plotting the design.
Kate scooping out the guts. She didn't want to touch them (like father/like daughter) and instead used a spoon.
Popping the mouth out after it had been cut.
Good work you two!!

A Super-Song

Kate and her friends at daycare have been practicing this song from Mary Poppins. Every time she sings it we have to clap and she takes a bow (as you can see, she is still perfecting that part!)

Crazy Is As Crazy Does

Vogel's fall to do list: week #1-have a baby, week #2-pumpkin patch, week #3-apple orchard, week #4-wakeboarding (yes, it was 66* outside but who's checking?!)
Kate was super-excited to go on Grandpa's boat one more time. She was literally jumping up and down on the dock before she got in.
Giving Uncle Kevin a high-five before he jumped in.
Jason right before he braves the icy water.
Still got it!
Yes mommy's belly is gone, but she is going to wait for summer!!
Andrew got to stay home where it was warm with Grandma.

Apple Orchard

Today we visited an apple orchard about 30 miles outside of town. We didn't pick a single apple, but we did enjoy the 80*+ temps and the many, many activities that were there.
One of the best parts of the day was this huge "corn pool". It was a giant area filled with shucked corn that was surrounded by hay bales, that was super-fun to walk (and lay) in.

Kate also enjoyed the hay maze...
...and the toddler tractor ride.

Baby Andrew also enjoyed the fall day, but spent most of it sleeping while snuggling with mom in the carrier.

Pumpkin Patch

On Sunday, we took advantage of the glorious fall weather and headed to the pumpkin patch outside of town.
Kate found many "perfect" pumpkins and had a hard time choosing just one. She ended up with one for her, one for Andrew, and a mini one for mom & dad.
"Mommy, he not taking his pumpkin". We're still working on what Andrew can & cannot do!
Yes, I made my 11 day old son pose with the pumpkins. How could I resist?
It was the absolute perfect way to spend a fall afternoon!
