Oh Christmas Tree

Yesterday we got out all of our Christmas decorations and decorated the tree. It's so great being able to sit on the couch as the kids talk about each ornament as they hang them. One of my favorite days of the year!

Kate's favorite ornament from when she started kindergarten.
The kids made us kiss and hang up our "first married" ornament as Kate took a picture. ;)

Thanksgiving

We had a fantastic Thanksgiving this year and enjoyed lots of time with family on both sides. We are so thankful for our blessings this year.

Kate has been handed the tradition of making the whip cream for the Heavenly Hash, which for the past 25 years has been my job. She did a great job and the title of Whip Cream Master is officially hers!
The weather was amazing and we took advantage of it with a family walk after dinner. Evan rode in style on Papa's shoulders.

And Kate hitched a ride with Uncle Tom.

The next day we drove to meet the newest Vogel--baby Huxton. The kids had a great time playing in the pool and we loved seeing everyone.
This is how Andrew fell asleep on the ride home.
Such a great holiday!

Kate's First 5k!

Kate has been saying she wanted to do a 5k for awhile now, and this morning we accomplished this goal! She had done a few training runs with me & Jason around our neighborhood, so we knew she could do the distance. I will still amazed at how well she did!

Pre-race with bibs on and shoes laced up.
Waiting for the start. It as chilly, but not terrible, which was good because much of the race was by the river. This would have made for a miserable morning if it had been much colder.
 Starting line.
And we were off! The course took us past lots of fun downtown spots, like this bridge. She was so excited the entire way and LOVED running by family and friends who came to cheer her on (complete with signs--our squad is THE best!) She kept a great, steady pace and only stopped once for a water break.
Andrew joined in for 1/2 a block and has decided he wants to do one soon too!
Before we knew it, we could see the finish line. Next thing I knew she took off in a sprint to the end.(Andrew just saw this photo and said "Kate zoomed up!")
Post-race. This race goes down as one of my top favorite parenting moments. Every runner dreams of running with their kids and I am so blessed to have been able to do it today. Here's to many more races together! <3 p="">

Trick or Treat!

This year we had a mad scientist, Spider-man, and a freezing cold mom in the 35* and blustery evening. The kids didn't mind the weather much and lasted a solid 90 minutes of dedicated candy collecting. Hope everyone had a happy Halloween!

Pumpkin Patch

October has been pretty rainy so we were really excited to have a great day to spend at our favorite pumpkin patch last Sunday. The weather was amazing and we had a great time roasting marshmallows, playing games, jumping in the bounce house, and finding the perfect pumpkins. Love this fall tradition!

Andrew's Birthday

Seven is: wild energy with sweet cuddles thrown in, nerf gun battles and games of chess, always barefoot with scraped up legs, a sharp sense of humor and a sensitive heart. Love this boy. ♥️

Present opening at the traditional froyo establishment.
On the day of his birthday, Andrew had a field trip to the apple orchard, which he thought was pretty cool.
Friend birthday party at Get Air.

They all spent the entire time playing dodgeball.

May all your 7 year wishes come true!
