Trick or Treat

While it was much too cold here to take Kate out trick or treating, she had fun greeting all of the kids who came to the door. She got good at putting handfuls of candy into their bags and loved running around the house in her bee costume. Always a busy little bee, costume or not!
Deciding which treat she would like.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Pumpkin Carving

We had our friends Claire & Dan over today to carve pumpkins. Kate went to bed before the actual carving started, but she was fascinated with the lid!
Jason carved Kate a monster from one of her favorite books, Where the Wild Things Are. I unfortunately, picked out a moldy pumpkin that was doomed from the beginning.
Trick or Treating tomorrow night. Stay tuned for a little buzzing bee!

Cooking With Kate

Last week Kate started to really like oatmeal. She tells me what to do step by step, so I decided to let her do the cooking. Look out Rachel Ray!

Palisades

Today we enjoyed the fall day at Palisades Park near Mt. Vernon for our annual Cavanagh reunion.

Last year Kate tried to eat the leaves, this year she enjoyed playing with them! The end destination of the post-lunch hike (very near the spot where Jason & I got engaged!)

Papa Jack, Kate and the ghost from granny.

A Crazy Man's Race

This weekend we took a trip to Chicago for Jason's Urbanathlon . Here is Jason & his good friend Adam before the race.
The race was 12 miles long and included obstacles like jumping over taxis, going through tires, monkey bars and...
563 stairs at Soldier Field!
Jason did an AMAZING job and got 13th place overall out of 5,000+ runners. We are very, very proud of him!

The finishers and supporting wives (who spent the morning sipping Starbucks and cheering them on).

A Recovery Weekend

After a very rough week that included a 104* temp (Kate) and bronchitis (Jason) we needed a weekend to recover! We spent lots of time lounging around, which was fine since there was snow on the ground!

We did make it to the bookstore, where Kate picked out a new Dora book.

Fall is here!

Today we enjoyed the wonderful fall weather (after a week of rain!) by going to local apple orchard and pumpkin patch. Unfortunately my camera battery died and I missed many a photo opportunity. Fortunately we need to go back to the pumpkin patch (also a tree farm) to buy some trees for our yard this month, so we will be back!
