Mother's Day Weekend

We had such an amazing weekend!

Saturday kicked off with a trip to pick out flowers, followed by lots of planting, both in the front yard pots and the backyard. Good thing I have two excellent helpers!

And after an accident with the garden hose, this little planter turned even more adorable while working in his Cars underwear.
After an afternoon rest we finally got to do something we have been waiting all winter for: kayaking!
Can you feel the excitement?!

Ever since we bought our kayaks last summer, Andrew has been asking for a little paddle. Jason finally ordered them, but they have not come in yet. Therefore, Andrew came up with the brilliant plan of taking half of mine. While he was absolutely thrilled to help paddle, this didn't fare well for meeting his demands of "FASTER MOM!"
Luckily all this work required a snack break, so I got my paddle back after a bit while Andrew munched and continued to direct me.
During our paddling we saw tons of turtles, geese and a blue heron.

It was great to get back on the water
Sunday was another great day...I got to sleep in and awoke to flowers and art projects...
...and a sweet piece of writing.
It poured all morning, so we went to the theater to watch a movie. For dinner we met at Grandpa & Papa's to grill out. Andrew had a blast playing football,
and Kate spent time checking out grandma's garden and picking flowers.

So lucky to have been spoiled all weekend with great weather and time with my favorite little ones.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!
