Kate's First 5k!

Kate has been saying she wanted to do a 5k for awhile now, and this morning we accomplished this goal! She had done a few training runs with me & Jason around our neighborhood, so we knew she could do the distance. I will still amazed at how well she did!

Pre-race with bibs on and shoes laced up.
Waiting for the start. It as chilly, but not terrible, which was good because much of the race was by the river. This would have made for a miserable morning if it had been much colder.
 Starting line.
And we were off! The course took us past lots of fun downtown spots, like this bridge. She was so excited the entire way and LOVED running by family and friends who came to cheer her on (complete with signs--our squad is THE best!) She kept a great, steady pace and only stopped once for a water break.
Andrew joined in for 1/2 a block and has decided he wants to do one soon too!
Before we knew it, we could see the finish line. Next thing I knew she took off in a sprint to the end.(Andrew just saw this photo and said "Kate zoomed up!")
Post-race. This race goes down as one of my top favorite parenting moments. Every runner dreams of running with their kids and I am so blessed to have been able to do it today. Here's to many more races together! <3 p="">
